Hot Stove is a classic steakhouse at the heart of the city of Toronto. They pride themselves on finding the highest graded, individually selected cuts of beef. A meticulous 6 week dry aging technique produces perfect marbling at the local meat farm, St Helen’s, only 90 kilometres away from the restaurant.

We helped Hot Stove with a new logo, colour palette, photography set, menus, interior design direction and launch campaign.

Subtle grill marks on the logo refer to the marks on the grill or steak, and harken back to the crosshatch illustration style implemented throughout the brand.

Food Photography

Intention. All food is carefully plated— not messy or spilling over plates.

Undisturbed. The photography should mimic still life art— classic, with everything placed intentionally to create a perfect composition with high contrast. No hands nor motion shown.

Focus. Emphasis on negative space and surrounding darkness. We use a single light source, with all else fading away except for the plated food itself.
